Founded in 2010 under the leadership of Puiphai Khunawat and Punpong Wiwatkul, Somdoon Architects has quickly gained recognition for its design and construction of public buildings, offices, hotels, but most notably, residential projects, including entry-level housing, mid-rise and high-rise developments. Today, the studio consists of architects, interior architects and designers positioned in a combined workspace in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. Deriving the company’s name from the Thai word for ‘balance’, Somdoon Architects believes in design that responds to climatic demands, studies the opportunities and challenges of each site, and that seeks elegance and innovation. From within South East Asia’s booming building industry, we believe it is crucial to take the time to research in depth and collaborate with industry leading specialists to balance ideas, options and inspirations of each unique project. In just two years, Somdoon Architecture has won several internationally-acclaimed awards, including: the WAF World Architecture Festival (2013) for ‘Best Future Project’; The Asia Pacific Property Awards (2013-2014) for ‘Best High-Rise Thailand’; and ‘Silver Winner’ at the MIPIM (Asia) Awards (2013) for ‘Best Residential Development’.
