Tony Owen Partners

Tony Owen is the principle of Tony Owen Partners. A Sydney based practice with 15 staff. Tony graduated from the University of NSW with the University Medal and the Board of Architects Prize. He won the BHP Student Biennale national design prize twice in a row. Tony studied advanced architectural design at Columbia University in New York where he was awarded the graduation design prize. At Columbia University, Tony worked with some of the leaders in contemporary design philosophy including Steven Holl, Bernard Tschumi and Greg Lynn. Here he explored contemporary approaches to design focusing on complex urban issues of density, sustainability and infrastructure as well as utilising current computer and catia technology in design generation. In New York Tony worked at Skidmore Owings and Merrill and at Richard Meier and partners on a range of large scale international projects. Tony Owen has been a Design Director and senior designer in a number of leading Sydney firms such as Phillip Cox Architects Architects, PTW and SJB. Tony has designed a number of prominent buildings including The Sydney Superdome, the Eureka Stockade Museum and the National Wine Museum, Adelaide. Tony Owen Partners is exploring new modes of sustainable design using digital technology to respond to changing environmental conditions at a micro design scale. Projects include; The National Ladies Centre, Abu Dhabi, St. George Dragons Stadium, The Moebuis House, The Bondi Wave House and Harley Davidson Headquarters, Australia winner of the CNBC Asia Pacific Property Awards for best commercial building.
