Kindergarten in Villacurí, Peru, showcases use of traditional materials and building techniques

Architects Betsaida Curto Reyes of Estudio Copla and Ander Bados Sesma of Atelier Ander Bados have collaborated on the design of a kindergarten in Villacurí in the heart of the Peruvian desert. The project is part of an initiative for All Hands and Hearts, a non-profit international disaster relief organization. The area’s school had not been rebuilt since Peru’s 2007 earthquake. Today, the school is an acclaimed example of educational architecture and a showcase for the use of traditional materials, building techniques, and sustainability. Monastery Accommodation

The story of the Franciscan monastery in Rožňava dates back to the begging of the 18th century. Due to the change of the political regime in the second half of the 20th century, it was forced to change its function and gradually began to deteriorate. Civic association Kláštor together with local activists took it upon themselves to transform the monastery into a cultural-creative center with coworking spaces, art studios, accommodation units, a cafe, and a bookshop. Latvian wellness resort keeps tradition alive with a contemporary architectural concept

Situated in the richly forested Gauja National Park in Latvia, the Ziedlejas Latvian nature spa and wellness resort by Open AD is informed by local customs, services and materials, while incorporating modern standards to appeal to a wider audience. Alvis Rozenbergs The wellness resort includes three new corten steel and glass cabins alongside two renovated sauna buildings. Further plans include a third sauna along with additional cabins and an events space.
